Farewell to Digital
Eye Strain –
Enjoy an
Easy-on-the-eyes
Experience with OLED
Our day begins the moment we open our eyes in the morning.
Having to face digital screens day and night, more and more people are showing symptoms of digital eye
strain and dry eye syndrome.
How does excessive exposure to display affect the eye?
LCD TVs, computer screens, and smartphones, which accompany our daily lives, emit blue light that
affects eye health.
With its higher energy and shorter wavelengths compared to other types of visible light, blue light
passes through the cornea and lens, reaching straight to the
retina. This direct exposure to light can negatively affect the eye, damaging eye health as a whole.
Prolonged exposure to blue light can also interfere with the body’s melatonin production, causing irregular sleep patterns and weaker immune systems.
Now you may be wondering if there a solution to this blue light problem.
OLED might be your answer.
Verified by official international certification companies for low blue light emission rates, OLED
displays release less than 50% of blue light compared to LCD
displays.
Blue light emission rates from OLED displays were measured at 50% lower than the standard (100W/sr/m2)
set by the International Electrotechnical
Commission(IEC). Product safety was further confirmed after receiving the UL Mark for ‘Low Blue Light
Display (OLED)’ from the global safety certification
company, UL. TÜV Rheinland also certified that blue light emission from LG Display’s products remained
under the 50% threshold, ensuring a safe and comfortable
viewing experience.
Moving on from blue light, OLED displays also suppress visible flickers – very fast blinking on screen – which causes eye fatigue and headaches. While LCD displays inevitably feature flickers due to backlight scanning and local dimming, self-emissive OLED offers a flicker free display, safe and enjoyable to the eye.
